The police investigate a series of deaths related to people who all appear to have committed suicide by taking a poisonous pill. Other recurring roles include Una Stubbs as Mrs Hudson, Holmes and Watson's landlady and co-creator Mark Gatiss as Sherlock's brother, Mycroft Holmes.Įpisodes Series 1 (2010) No.

Although the series depicts a variety of crimes and perpetrators, Holmes' conflict with his archenemy Jim Moriarty ( Andrew Scott) is a recurring feature. The third series has become the UK's most watched drama series since 2001, and Sherlock has been sold to over 200 territories. In January 2014, Moffat confirmed that a fifth series had been plotted however, as to the future of the series, Gatiss stated that due to the conflicting schedules of Cumberbatch and Freeman, a potential fifth season is still up in the air. As of 15 January 2017, 13 episodes of Sherlock have aired, including one special, concluding the fourth series. A single episode aired in 2016, as a Victorian-era special, followed by a fourth series in 2017.

The first series of three episodes aired in 2010, while series two aired in 2012, and a third series aired in the first quarter of 2014. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, it stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. This episode even managed to fully counter my disappointment of the series not being the detective-focused series that it once was.Sherlock is a crime television series that presents a contemporary adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. The tension in his scenes with Sherlock was huge and Jones's expressions were perfectly portraying Smith's lunacy. Toby Jones's performance was also extraordinary, he was the perfect villain for this episode. To be astonished and surprised at the last moment, when you think that everything is over and suddenly everything is explained in such a magnificent way that you can only ask for more, while you clear your mind from every other thought and simply focus on the screen to enjoy those specific mind- blowing scenes. Moffat portrays both Sherlock's and John's demons and inner wars in a brilliant way. This is an amazing episode, definitely a lot better than the previous one. Weren't for the first episode of the 2nd season, I would suggest this for the best one of the series.
